General Information

  • Listen for the calls for your races. Know what races you are swimming and go to the line up
location when your race is called.
  • Know where your coach is (little kids should sit in a certain area with their coach and the
rest of their group to ensure that they don’t miss a race).
  • Each swimmer is allowed to swim up to three individual races (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle, Individual Medley) and one relay (Freestyle relay or Medley relay). This is the maximum number of races.  Some swimmers will not have this many races, so don’t worry if you or your child has less.
  • Young children (12 and under) should let their coach know before they leave the pool deck during a meet. This prevents missing swimmers during races. Anyone over 13 is expected to know when their race is and should be able to come and go more freely. Note to parents with young children: please make sure your child(ren) has all that he or she will need for the meet (water or Gatorade, snacks, a towel, goggles, a swim cap if they want one) so that they don’t have to leave the deck during the meet.
  • At home meets, parents will be needed to be timers. Please volunteer for  this. You get the best seat and you can see your child race just as well as if you were simply a spectator. The more volunteers we have, the easier the races go for everyone.
